All my eggs in one basket?

Recently, someone mentioned using an alt to get through the system of a rival. This piqued my curiosity so I decided to ask several people questions about alts. SL itself, estimates that there are several alts per user.

Some people have very strong feelings about the use of alts. They see it as some sort of a character flaw. Others, like the person who said that she would use an alt to sneak through a testing system, see it as a practical solution. As an entity, SL offers a certain anonymity the moment you create an avatar. The avatar is an alt in itself. Does setting up a separate account constitute a weakness of character, or the ability use the medium to a further extent?

When asked, many people have said that they have alts. I suspect that the reasons are almost as different as the amount of users. I have heard of sex alts, sub alts, Dom alts. furry alts, neko alts, vampire alts, gamer alts, transgender alts and sci fi alts. There are alts used for RP, (role play) that enrich the story line, and alts that people have created to escape the history they have written as that avatar.

Some people that create alts do so to to explore different parts of their personalities. These people refer to their "main" avatar. That would be the one that the person most closely relates to,or it can be the "banker" alt. Some create alts to wreak havoc as a griefer. (Not nice.) Some use alts as investigators, or to just have that chance to be anonymous again.

Is it wrong to have an alt? One girl told me that if she only had one character on sl it would be like having all of her eggs in one basket. She said, " I am limited in rl, why should I be limited in sl?" The question alts becomes one that each person must answer for him or herself.

Me, I think that it would be very expensive, and my time is so limited, it is not even an option that I can entertain. Besides, I am already a fairy, mermaid, OBGYN, submissive, and Alice the 'blogger.

I think that is enough, for now.

Where the red cube led me...

One day, after I had been introduced to the Dark Den red cube intended for the role play certification (More on that in a later post) I ventured there.
The lights grew dim, sl, was having its version of a brown out and I was left alone on the sim, (almost)unable to tp out, and pretty sure that if I tried I would be one of the casualties...as I watched the counter of on-line log ins for sl drop to under 30K for people in world Now was my chance to explore the Den without fear of kidnap or enslavement, or so I thought.
I was aware of only one other person on the sim. This was beast, the alter ego, half sister, would be uni-bomber of Dark Den. (recently re-programmed)
She offered to give me a tour of the Country of Glint. During this time we talked about many things. I had not learned to log conversations yet, so I have not idea what it was we talked about. But I do know one thing...

I was enchanted... I still am...

Mermaid Phase

Sometimes known as Sea Fairies

I am a creature of the Fey

Prepare to give your soul away

My spell is passion and it is art

My song can bind a human heart

And if you chance to know my face

My hold shall be your last embrace.

Sailors for the longest time have told yarns about the ladies of the deep that have come to their salvation. To this day these ladies of legend are spoken of with the awe they so richly deserve.

There are many places on SL that are created specifically to explore mermaids or being one. The beauty and creativity found at these places touched some place primal and deep within me. They say that we come from the sea originally. Do you think that might be why some of us feel this aquatic pull?

I have been lucky enough to be given the space to express do that myself. It is a small cove by the fairy grove on Nayeli. Still under construction, come see me sometime...or better yet, come explore on your own. Do not miss the underwater patio.

Don't worry, you should be able to be underwater, wearing the Gorean Meter, without drowning...

If you stay on the mosaic images of Neptune, that is. Or you can come dance with me!

Impossible?

I have sometimes thought of as many as six impossible things before breakfast! (Lewis Carroll)

One of those things is to become fae or a fairy. Another...to be a mermaid...yet another...well, you will have to wait to discover that later!
